Disney – forced to sell the 22 regional sports channels acquired during the acquisition of Twenty-First Century Fox's entertainment assets – has a difficult choice to make.
While Amazon and Sinclair Broadcast Group are about to buy the YES network, four other groups are trying to buy the other 21 channels: Sinclair, Liberty Media, Major League Baseball and a consortium of LL Cool J, jeweler Carolyn Rafaelian and Ice Cube co-founder of the BIG3 basketball league, made up of retired NBA players and international players playing three-on-three.
Josh Kosman, of the post, revealed that Disney had found buyers for the Yankees chain, which collectively would pay $ 3.47 billion.
The Yankees had the right of first refusal on the sale. But they will not make the call for the remaining channels.
"These are women and diversity compared to old whites," said one insider. "Disney must make a choice."
The Department of Justice is forcing the sale of channels to approval of Disney's acquisition of Twenty-First Century Fox's assets.
