Four bodies were found by law enforcement in a vehicle parked in a Wisconsin cornfield this weekend.

The bodies of two men and two women were discovered in a “black SUV that was driven into a cornfield standing off a rural road” and then abandoned, according to the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office. All four victims died of gunshot wounds and were dead within 24 hours when they were found, officials said.

Officials said Tuesday they had not yet determined a motive or connection between the four who died and the community.

The victims were identified as Nitosha Lee Flug-Presley, 30; Matthieu Isiah Pettus, 26 years old; Loyace foreman, 35 years old; and Jasmine Christine Sturm, 30 years old. All four are from Minnesota, police said, according to the Belleville News-Democrat. Two of them were siblings, and the other two would be dating.

A local farmer discovered the van in northern Dunn County and called 911 around 2 p.m. Sunday, officials said. After the agents arrived at the scene, they asked community members if they had seen anyone “going to one or more residences to request a taxi early on Sunday morning or late on Saturday evening”.

Police suspect the black SUV, which had Minnesota license plates, was traveling with “a second dark-colored SUV.”

“Our hearts go out to the family and friends of these victims,” Dunn County Sheriff Kevin Bygd said Tuesday. “I wish we could divulge more details, but we have to strike a balance between the public’s desire to know the details and the risk of hampering our investigation and losing evidence to build a good homicide case.”

Authorities said the community would not be in danger at this time as “the suspect (s) left the area after abandoning the SUV in the cornfield.”

Bygd said the department did not suspect the crime was involved, but stressed, “Everyone is a suspect at this point. We are looking at all possibilities. Hopefully arrests will be made soon.”
