Skipper of the "Maxi Edmond de Rothschild", committed to the final victory during this 11th edition of the Route du Rhum, Sébastien Josse discovered that nearly 8 meters of his starboard float had been torn off. After securing the boat, it is proceeding at a low speed to Corunna that it should reach between 21 and 23 hours on Monday, November 5th.

Given the extent of the damage, the abandonment is only a matter of administrative formalities, which will be done once the boat and the skipper have reached the mainland. The "Maxi Edmond de Rothschild" is a boat of the Ultimate clbad (maxi-trimaran 32 m long and 23 m wide maximum) and is capable of flying.

It was launched in July 2017 and took part in its first race in November 2017 with the Transat Jacques-Vabre, Duplicate race from Le Havre to Salvador de Bahia (Brazil). During the race, the foils (appendices that allow the boat to fly) had been seriously damaged and the boat remained under construction from January to April.
