On 13 April 2013, while being detained for a robbery and the murder of a municipal policewoman, Aurélie Fouquet, Redoine Faïd took four prison guards from Sequedin prison in the North. Two months before that, the prison of Réau knows his first attempt of escape. Smain Ait Ali Belkacem, a 48-year-old Algerian, former GIA and Islamist terrorist figure, is surprised with fellow inmate Abdelaziz Fahd, 31, when he unleashes explosives to open the sports ground. They are sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on May 18, 2017 by the Paris court.
● 2009: two escapes in the year
