We have entered a new geological age: the Meghalayan

The organization responsible for establishing a geological time scale on the Earth has brought our planet into a new era.

We did not know it yet, but it's been 4,200 years since Earth has entered a new age: the Meghalayen, the third period of the Holocene era. This was announced on July 13 the International Commission on Statigraphy (International Union of Geological Sciences, UISG), responsible for the establishment of a scale of geological time on the Earth. The Beginning of Meghalayen is marked by important droughts which "led to the collapse of civilizations and caused human migrations" reports the HuffPost. The scientific organization cites notably Egypt, Greece, Syria, Mesopotamia, China or India.

The Meghalayan is one of the three newly named ages by scientists, the other two are Greenlandian (from 11,700 to 8,326 years old) and the Nordgrippian (8,326 to 4,250 years old).
