Apple recommends backing up its 2018 MacBook Pro more frequently

We told you right out, the MacBook Pro 2018 no longer have a data recovery port from the SSD on its motherboard.

This limitation, related to the arrival of the chip T2 (which manages the startup and encryption) and confirmed recently by iFixIt, still poses a problem of size: in case of bug with the Apple processor or any major malfunction on the motherboard, it will be unable to recover SSD data even though it is in good condition.

According to MacRumors, Apple's SAV was instructed by advising its customers to make backups more regularly notably via TimeMachine, the tool built into macOS. What was already obvious becomes an obligation: you will not have a second chance if the machine broke down . And from what we have been told, the iMac Pro (also equipped with the T2) already encounter problems of corruption of the chip, which causes a total blockage of the machine.

We can only deplore these choices of Apple, especially on portable machines that are not always easy to save mobility. Now, if you bring your MacBook Pro on vacation or business trip for several weeks, it is highly recommended to graft a small disk backup in the evening. We now find compact models of 4TB under 100 €.
