A police officer employed at the Toulon court, accused of raping a female detainee, was indicted and imprisoned on Thursday night, prosecutor Bernard Marchal was told Friday.
The facts took place on June 13, said the magistrate, confirming information from Var-Matin . A young woman born in 1982, who appeared for fraud in an immediate appearance, asked for a time limit for her defense and her trial was postponed to June 27.
In the meantime, she was detained and renewed, at the end of the hearing, in the jails of the court, before his transfer for the prison of the Baumettes in Marseilles.
The young woman wanted a telephone to call his family. That's when the facts occurred, continued the attorney of Toulon. In tears, the young woman asked the policeman to lend her phone to warn her mother and daughter of her incarceration. The policeman, a 59-year-old man who has been serving for a long time in the service of Toulon court escorts, reportedly agreed in exchange for a blowjob. The victim, a few days later, while incarcerated at Baumettes, was convinced by the probation service to lodge a complaint and an investigation was then entrusted to the IGPN of Marseille.
Many elements were collected, according to the magistrate, tending to accredit the version of the young woman, including the veracity of the call made to his family from the police officer's phone, traces of sperm corresponding to his DNA in the toilets of the jails of the court and concordant testimonies
The police officer stated at first that he was thinking of forming a relationship with the victim. Numerous appeals were also made by the police officer himself to the young woman, including after her release from her trial on June 27, after which she was sentenced without being incarcerated.
Arrested on Wednesday morning, the police officer acknowledged the facts after initially baduring that he thought they were forming a relationship. He was imprisoned after an indictment for rape aggravated by his status as a person in charge of public authority.
