Paris – Three departments are kept Saturday morning in orange vigil because of the heat wave that has been raging for several days, said Météo-France.
The alert is lifted in 18 departments but remains maintained in three others in the Rhone Valley. This is the Ardèche, the Drôme and the Rhône.
Since late June, temperatures have remained warm throughout the country, says Météo-France, especially in the northern half of France where they were on average 2 to 4 degrees above seasonal values .
Saturday morning, there are between 17 and 20 degrees of Hauts-de-France in the Ile-de-France. Temperatures remain higher in the Lyon region and the Rhône valley with 21 to 25 degrees.
On the Ile-de-France, the maximum Saturday afternoon will be down 10 degrees from Friday and will cap at 26 degrees. Buildings can still remain hot and temperatures will be gradually rising in the next few days.
In the Lyon region, maximum temperatures will rise on Saturday afternoon near 29 degrees. On the Drôme and Ardèche, the maximum temperatures will reach 32 to 33 degrees.
From Sunday, the return of sunny weather will cause temperatures to rise again: 33 degrees in Lyon, 35 degrees in Montelimar, thus finding scorching levels. This hot spot will continue on Tuesday.
The month of July 2018 should be the third warmest July since 1900, with an average temperature above normal of 2.4 degrees, according to a provisional report prepared by Météo-France Friday night.
July 2018 would thus be in terms of temperature after July 2006 (+3.6 degrees) and July 1983 (+2.6 degrees).
