The timing seems to have been miscalculated. The total restructuring of the bus network in Paris in April 2019 requires a hundred additional buses but the company no longer has electric vehicles in stock. Old diesel buses will be put back into service for a few months.

An order for 1,000 clean buses has been made in early 2018, but the first electric buses will only be delivered from 2020. In the meantime, the RATP has no choice but to extend the lifetime of 118 Crit'Air clbad 4 or 5 diesel buses, the most polluting categories, which will be banned from circulation in Paris in 2019.

"This is unacceptable. RATP must comply with regulations, says Valérie Pécresse, president of the Ile-de-France and Ile-de-France Mobilités region. "These materials will be the subject of an interior renovation", says the RATP. "And they are all equipped with particulate filters to limit emissions of pollutants".

The restructuring of the Parisian bus network will result in the creation of four additional lines, another 53 will be modified and 250 bus stops created. Currently, the RATP has a fleet of 4700 buses including 800 hybrids, 74 electric and 140 that run on natural gas (NGV). The goal is to reach 100% clean vehicles in 2025.
