A small monkey was stolen from Natur'Zoo in Mervent, Vendée, reports France Bleu Loire Océan. This tamarin from Goeldi, a protected species, was reportedly stolen on Friday 13 July. The zoo's employees realized his absence at the closing, while they were preparing to feed the animals: the eleven year old animal was missing . The lock of his pen was fractured.
Very worried, the director of the zoo immediately gave the alert by Facebook: "Return this animal as soon as possible if you want it to survive your heinous act," he wrote in his message. According to him, if he does not benefit from proper care and food, the little primate, which weighs only 600 grams, could die within 72 hours . His call for help has been relayed many times.
The director of the zoo filed a complaint with the gendarmerie but does not lose hope to find the animal . As France Bleu pointed out, a similar robbery took place about twenty years ago: the thieves ended up returning to the park the animal they had stolen.
