The man suspected of murdering Sarah Halimi, a Jewish badagenarian killed in 2017 in Paris, was responsible for his actions? No, concludes a new psychiatric report, contradicting a first doctor. The judge, however, asked for a third opinion.
On the night of April 3 to 4, 2017, Kobili Traoré had introduced herself to her neighbor Lucie Attal – also called Sarah Halimi – on the third floor of a public housing project in Belleville. To the cries of "Allah Akbar", interspersed with insults and verses from the Koran, this young Muslim beat her on the balcony before throwing her into the courtyard .
At the end of February, after a rehearing of Kobili Traoré, the judge held the antisemitic character of the crime after a long stand-off with the prosecution and the civil parties. The circumstances of the murder of this former 65-year-old Orthodox Jewish Orthodox Nativity Manager at first appeared confusing to the investigators.
A "brief psychotic disorder" having "abolished his discernment"
The question question of the discernment of the young man, interned since his arrest is one of the stakes of the file. The suspect, indicted a year ago for murder, is " inaccessible to a penal sanction .It is readaptable but the care will be long and difficult", they add, judging also that his state of health does not allow for ordinary detention.
A third expert report ordered by the examining magistrate
"This second expert report, which had not even been requested by the defense, completely contradicts the first judicial report" of the expert psychiatrist Daniel Zagury, lamented Me Gilles -William Goldnadel, lawyer of Sarah Halimi's sister-in-law. The first psychiatric report concluded that Kobili Traoré, on the night of the murder, had been seized with an "acute delirious puff" linked to a high recent cannabis consumption which had altered his judgment without necessarily abolish. Me Caroline Toby, lawyer along with Francis Szpiner of the three children of the victim, told AFP that the investigating magistrate had ordered a third expert report .
