On the night of Thursday to Friday, a fire caused two casualties in a house in Aire-sur-la-Lys, in the Pas-de-Calais, according to information from The Voice of the North confirmed by the Departmental Fire and Rescue Service (SDIS) 62.
Help was alerted around 5:30 Friday by a motorist who had seen flames escaping of a house located on a pastor, Aire-sur-la-Lys, between Bethune and Saint-Omer.
The victims are an elderly woman and her son
Thirty firefighters from three different barracks were sent on the spot, as well as seven gears. The fire, which had taken on the front of the house before spreading in the back, could be circumscribed but the help could not do anything to save the two occupants of the house, an elderly woman and her son

According to the SDIS 62 the two victims "were certainly poisoned by the smoke from the fire". By mid-morning the fire was out, but clearing operations were still in progress. The origin of the incident has not yet been determined.
