Airbus BelugaXL looks even more like a whale – Tech

Airbus employees chose the new BelugaXL look. You will not forget that the cargo plane is inspired by a cetacean, because it is now decorated with a smiling facies.

If you have already seen an Airbus A300-600ST, more commonly known as Beluga nickname, you have found that this cargo plane actually looks like the cetacean of the Arctic Ocean. This striking resemblance is not a coincidence, and the aeronautical manufacturer has shown it recently.

On July 3, 2018, Airbus presented its brand-new BelugaXL. In case you did not understand that the plane was inspired by a whale, the company emphasized it by adding to the bolide eyes and a smiling mouth.

Digital Trends states that the company has asked its 20,000 employees to vote among six different models, and that 40% of them have selected this facies smiling.

Longer and wider than the current Beluga

Behind this big smile, is especially the new plane of Airbus which will have to carry a even more important loading by 2019. On its site, the manufacturer explains that the first tests of the BelugaXL take place now, during the summer 2018. " The new air carriers are manufactured on the basis of the 'A330-200, by reusing existing components and equipment ', explains Airbus in this release

The BelugaXL is longer than its predecessor – 6 meters – and wider – one meter. The new aircraft will allow to transport the two wings of an Airbus A350, instead of one as with the current Beluga.
