His behavior could have been dangerous for him and for others. On Wednesday, July 11th, a 70-year-old motorist was controlled by the gendarmes with an extremely high blood alcohol level, reports France Bleu. Alerted by other drivers the gendarmes were able to call the septuagenarian mid-afternoon on a departmental road of Haute-Garonne.
Highly alcoholic, the motorist declared out of a meal "watered" and was unable to blow in the breathalyzer so that the authorities check his blood alcohol level. As specified by France Bleu, a blood test was performed on the septuagenarian: the results showed a rate of 3.87 grams of alcohol per liter of blood . The security forces immediately proceeded to the retention of his driving license pending an administrative and judicial decision.
Reporting the incident on his Facebook account, the Gendarmerie Haute-Garonne thanked "the citizen and courageous intervention of several road users", which "certainly avoided a tragedy."
