augmented reality glasses announced for summer in the US

Supported by big companies including Google and Qualcomm, the Magic Leap start-up has been dreaming geeks for years with a project as crazy as blur: glbades of augmented reality very compact. If the young company is still discreet about the performance of its creation, the official marketing should take place in just a few weeks.

For years, we hear about Magic Leap One. An ambitious project jealously protected by its designers. An old patent leaked in 2015 foreshadowed the design of these glbades dedicated to augmented reality. Since then, Magic Leap's engineers have unveiled some rare pre-recorded and reworked PC videos.

A few days ago, a new demo was released. And rare, technical information on the equipment embedded in the glbades. The calculator – which is worn at the belt – will incorporate a quad-core SoC Nvidia Tegra X2 with Denver 2 processors and a Pascal GPU. The set would be more powerful than the Nintendo Switch.

The operating system running Magic Leap One is a 64-bit version of Linux named Lumin . The Vulkan, OpenGL ES 3.1 and OpenGL 4.5 APIs will be supported. Third-party developers will be able to create games and animations with graphics engines Unreal Engine and Unity .

Many other specifications are still missing, such as the developers say it will be "several hours". What about lenses? Onboard sensors? From the field of vision? All this is still unclear and will probably be known at the last moment …

An official release scheduled for summer 2018

The release of the new demo was an opportunity for representatives of the start -up to announce the imminent commercialization of their augmented reality glbades . No need to rush to your favorite hardware store, however, the release will be limited this summer in the US at the operator AT & T only. And the commercialized models will be primarily for developers.
