This new meter offers a finer vision, allows to follow much more precisely and better control its daily consumption. Finally, thanks to Linky, the search for outages or surges on the entire low voltage network will be more efficient. With failures detected earlier, easier diagnoses and faster interventions. The idea is to enable the consumer to save money and pay for what he has actually consumed and no longer an estimate.

Is this meter change required?

Yes, in the sense that a counter is not the property of the customer, but is only made available. The meters belong to the municipality or electrification unions, which have delegated to Enedis the operation of the networks. We are responsible for maintaining them, renewing them and intervening in troubleshooting. This mode of deployment is defined within the framework of the law, following a European directive.

These concerns are legitimate. But all that we do, as a public service company, is very well supervised and monitored by the CNIL (National Commission for Informatics and Liberties). The customer's data is limited to the household consumption index that is sent monthly to electricity suppliers. This is what was noted before, but now at higher rates. Let's be clear, we do not sell this data. No information can be transmitted to a third party without the explicit consent of the consumer.

Will there be any consequences for the amount of the invoice to be paid by the customer?

No, the investment and the installation of the Linky meter do not generate any additional cost and have no impact for the customer. On the other hand, the project has a cost, but the benefits related to this deployment will be taken into account in the tariff and will be balanced.
