THE STAGE OF THE DAY

After a first stage marked by the victory in the sprint of Fernando Gaviria (Quick-Step) and the spectacular fall of Christopher Froome (Sky), the peloton of the Tour de France takes the road Sunday from La Roche-Sur-Yon from Mouilleron-Saint-Germain. The course, long of 182,5 km, presents no particular difficulty.

The sprinters who could not express themselves Saturday, like Arnaud Démare (Groupama-FDJ), victim of a fall, will have the opportunity to rebuild. From Mouilleron-Saint-Germain, the land of the tiger Georges Clemenceau, the course draws a near loop of 182.5 kilometers in the department of Vendée. The final should be the occasion of a demanding sprint at La Roche-sur-Yon, at the end of a 900-meter flat-bottom straight line, at an average of 4%. This arrival corresponds well to the qualities of Arnaud Démare but also to those of Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe).

Second day without particular difficulty on the road of the Tour. Only coast of the day: that of Pouzauges, ranked in the 4th category and located 154 km from the finish (one km at 3.9% average). Kevin Ledanois (Fortuneo-Samsic) will try to defend his jersey. If another rider takes the lead, they will be determined in the general clbadification.

La Roche-sur-Yon (53,000 inhabitants) welcomes the Tour for the sixth time, the first since … 80 years and the victory on the velodrome Local of the Belgian Eloi Meulenberg, world champion the year before
