France and Algeria have reached an agreement to expel the terrorist Djamel Beghal to Algeria. Djamel Beghal must leave prison on July 16, 2018, just two days after the national holiday. He is currently incarcerated in the prison center of Vézin, near Rennes.

This information was unveiled this Thursday, July 12, by Richard Ferrand, president of the group The Republic in motion in the National Assembly. He was interviewed as part of the program "Questions d'info" in partnership with LCP, Le Point and AFP.

Djamel Beghal is considered the mentor of Chérif and Said Kouachi and Amédy Coulibaly, the perpetrators of the January 2015 attacks in Paris against the writing of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo and against the supermarket Hyper Cacher.

In the past, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for criminal conspiracy. Djamel Beghal thus finishes serving a second sentence of 10 years in prison for a project of escape in 2010 of Smaïn Aït Ali Belkacem, a former member of the Algerian Armed Islamic Group (GIA), sentenced to life for the attack at the station RER Musée d'Orsay in Paris in 1995.
