It was only a short respite. The heat returns to the country after the drop in temperatures on Saturday. And these will increase all the week. "The weather becomes everywhere sunny and warm, with 32 ° C expected in Lyon and 35 ° C in Montelimar, without refreshing below 20 ° C during the next night (Sunday night to Monday), warns Météo France.

Three departments are still placed on orange alert for heat wave. Are concerned: Ardèche (07), Drôme (26) and Rhône (69). The alert is valid until Monday morning but could be extended beyond. In the other departments of South East in particular, it will also be very hot today. Thus in Ain and Isère, placed in yellow vigilance, we expect 33 ° C this afternoon at Ambérieu and Grenoble.

The heat wave will be particularly marked at the beginning of the week in all the south-east and center-east of the country, told AFP François Gourand, forecaster at Météo France, who expects other departments be placed in vigilance orange heat wave.

From Thursday, it is the whole southern half of the country which should be concerned by the heat waves (between 35 and 39 degrees) and at the end of the week, the northern half could be affected in turn, even if the uncertainty is greater, says Meteo France.

Since the end of June, temperatures have remained high throughout the country, says Météo-France, especially on the northern half where they have averaged 2 to 4 degrees above seasonal values. No refreshment expected under 20 ° C during the night from Sunday to Monday. In the departments in yellow vigilance (Ain and Isère), we expected 33 degrees Sunday afternoon in Ambérieu and Grenoble. These hot weather will continue to increase until at least next Friday.

The month of July 2018 should be the third warmest July since 1900, with an average temperature above normal of 2.4 degrees, according to a provisional report prepared by Météo-France Friday evening.

On Friday evening, violent storms fell on the northern half with significant hailstorms in Paris or Arras (see the video below). below ).

In total, there were 45,000 lightning strikes in the northern half.
