"I can not wait for the championship to start"

Yacine Bammou has an atypical career. Born in the Paris region, he joined FC Nantes in 2013 only while he was … salesman in a PSG shop! Meanwhile, his excellent end of season with the club Evry CFA2 had caught the eye of recruiters Canaries. But after 5 years in the Pays-de-la-Loire, the 26-year-old striker who has worn the Morocco jersey six times (for a goal) has wanted to change his tune to boost his career. He has just signed for four years with the Stade Malherbe Caen. Interview

– Yacine, you are now wearing the SMC jersey. Why choose Caen?

First of all, I am very proud to have signed here, the Stade Malherbe de Caen is a super club. I was approached by the SMC, a new staff, a new coach. The president told me that they were interested (by my profile) and this is a project that I like. I did my time in Nantes after five seasons. I needed to change air. It's a club that I know, that I've been since I was little and today I'm very proud to be here.

– What do you think about bringing this team?

First of all my investment will be 100% because it is a club that wants to aim high this year. I will bring all my qualities, I really work for the collective. I will try to bring my power, my rigor. I won a lot of matches in Ligue 1 so I can bring my experience. I will try to be decisive and take the club to the highest.

– You played little last year, how are you physically?

It's going very well. I had some injuries and over my five years in Nantes, it was probably the most complicated season. But this is nothing serious, in football there are ups and downs, I think I'm going to revive here. I am 100% and I will give everything for this club. I can not wait to be there, I look forward to the start of the championship.

First friendly match against Angers in Sablé-sur-Sarthe on Wednesday. For the championship it will be necessary to wait until August 12 and a trip to PSG.
