The first station of France in term of traffic will be closed this Saturday, October 20th, first day of holidays of All Saints. It will be a gradual closure throughout the day, which will lead, from 20:30, the total closure of the station and therefore the suspension of all trains. Their traffic will normally resume at 5am on Sunday morning, said the SNCF.

For good reason, a new "control tower" controlling the switch points of the area will be installed. It should make it possible to remotely control the 13 switching points that supervise trains converging on Gare du Nord. This represents 10% of French rail traffic. The commissioning of this new equipment must, in particular, facilitate the rapid handling of traffic incidents and "enable the operation of the RER B per segment in a disturbed situation", according to SNCF. It took four years of studies and four years of work to create this "control tower" which cost 125 million euros, according to the SNCF.
In addition, the 300 agents mobilized will have only 19 hours to perform the "rocker" on the new system, an operation prepared for two years. Until 18:00, they will change 111 signals, adapt 154 switches, replace 3,000 signs, change thousands of cables … Then from 18:00 to 4:30 Sunday, they will test the new signaling, by circulating empty trains, before the resumption of traffic.
Disturbances to know
The disturbances will be many this Saturday, and this from 5am. In detail, the RER B will be interrupted all day between Châtelet-Les Halles and Le Bourget, then from 19:00 on the northern part of the Châtelet-Les Halles line at Roissy and Mitry-Claye airport. The RER D, it will be interrupted until 20:30 between Gare de Lyon and Gare du Nord, then from 20:30 between Gare de Lyon and Creil. No trains from the Transilien H line will run until 20:30 from Gare du Nord to Saint-Denis, then from 20:30 to Ermont-Eaubonne and Sarcelles-Saint-Brice. On line K of the Transilien, there will be no train until 19:00 from Gare du Nord to Mitry-Claye, then in the evening to Crépy-en-Valois.
Replacement buses will be set up on the various lines, promised the SNCF, which notes that travel times will therefore be lengthened. As for the main lines, the traffic will also be interrupted from 8:30 pm, but no train running at these times has been opened for sale, a spokeswoman said. AFP.
