[ad_1]

When you buy a high-end smartphone, we naturally want it to be the best in all categories. The most beautiful, the most enduring … But also the fastest. The 01net.com lab has developed two different tests to measure the capabilities of three flagship devices: the iPhone X, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and the OnePlus 6. The results can be viewed in the video above. [19659002] Small precision: each test has been redone three times for more precision, and the results presented are an average of the loading times of each exercise.

Which smartphone is the fastest for surfing?

First exercise to measure the speed of these three smartphones: the loading of web pages. To compare the iPhone X, the Galaxy S9 and the OnePlus 6 equitably, the 01net.com lab has created a script capable of loading 30 pages in succession, one after the other. These pages come from 5 different sites: Facebook, Libération, Le Figaro, Le Monde and Download.com

The three devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and load pages hosted locally on a single server. We made sure no pages were cached, to prevent the smartphone from reloading the page from its memory. Each page contains HTML code, javascript files, photos and CSS files. The detailed protocol can be found below:

Which smartphone is the fastest to launch applications?

Second test for our iPhone X, Galaxy S9 and OnePlus 6: the successive opening of 10 applications of the daily newspaper. This time, no script: every opening is done manually by a human. Once an application is completely finished loading, we move on to the next, and so on.

Important note: no application is running in the background on any of our smartphones. In addition to emptying the multitasking drawer, we turned off and on each device before starting the timer. The detailed protocol can be found below:

Conclusion: no real winner

With only two seconds behind the Galaxy S9 and OnePlus 6 (41 seconds) we can not really say that the iPhone X (43 seconds) is slower to open applications. If the devices recorded some nice variations of speed a few generations ago, we can only note that the high-end devices have almost all the same level today. The OnePlus 6 Snapdragon 845 processor, the Galaxy S9 Exynos 9810 and the iPhone X A11 Bionic are equally powerful.

On the web, the iPhone X (1 minute and 8 seconds) takes advantage of everything likewise a good lead over its competitors, even if it is to relativize if we consider the speed of OnePlus 6 (1min 14s) and Galaxy S9 (1min 36s). At equal exercise, the Apple smartphone is doing better, but the two Android devices are far from being outdistanced. Apple has surely better optimized its device and its browser.

With smartphones as powerful, it is interesting to note that animations are wasting valuable seconds for smartphones, whose speed of execution is becoming closer to the world. instantaneity

With iOS 12, Apple will automatically lighten certain animations, and accessibility settings can already remove some. Android users can go through developer settings to speed up their device transitions. What make his smartphone much faster, at least to launch its applications. As an example, our same routine applied to a OnePlus 6 without the animations made us gain no less than 8 seconds!
