This is a very bad news that comes to the studio only two years after its separation with PlayStation.
Although he did a little talk about it when it was released last June, OnRush quickly fell into oblivion. Unfortunately, this lack of media exposure has had repercussions on sales that seem to have been disastrous. Thus, our colleagues from Eurogamer tell us that layoffs hit the developers . These were previously known as Evolution Studios and they had worked on titles like Motorstorm or Driveclub. In 2016, Sony decided to close the studio before all the staff were taken over by Codemasters .
Unfortunately, this second chance was not beneficial and the director of Driveclub as well as OnRush, named Paul Rustchynsky, was pushed to the exit. He is not the only one since sources (which remained anonymous) specified that the team had simply been "decapitated" with veterans like new ones who were transferred overnight . Others also had a new interview in order to rebadess their role within the company.
Thus, still according to these sources, the remaining staff should now work solely in support of projects of Codemasters or on less ambitious and risky titles . There would also have been communication problems between the developers and Codemasters throughout the development of OnRush. This has probably affected the quality of the game and its very poor sales. Eurogamer finished even stating that the soft would have sold 1000 physical copies in the United Kingdom during its first week of marketing . A real disaster … According to Codemasters the post-launch content would not be affected by these layoffs
OnRush is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC
