A bill to fight tax evasion will be discussed Tuesday by the Finance Committee. If adopted, the text could tax gains obtained by individuals on the collaborative site Leboncoin.

They are called collaborative platforms. The principle is simple: to offer individuals to pay to buy an object or benefit from a service. Among the most famous platforms in France, there is Leboncoin, a sort of giant flea market on the Internet, or Blablacar, which offers carpools. The incomes earned by individuals on these sites were not subject to taxation until now, at least up to a certain threshold.

But that could change. A bill to fight against tax fraud will be discussed Tuesday by the Finance Committee in the Assembly as explained in the JDD. Individuals could therefore be taxed, which may reduce the appeal of such platforms. The average income from the sale of used objects on Leboncoin is estimated at around 400 euros per year. After having been examined by the Finance Committee, the text should be put to the vote of parliamentarians this autumn.
