Under the keyboard keys of the new MacBook Pro Touch Bar, Apple has added a silicone membrane, found iFixit who is carrying out its disbadembly of a model 2018.
When we remove a touch, we find below the same butterfly mechanism but it is covered with a transparent film, flexible and thin. Like wrapped in a cocoon. A modification that greatly resembles a solution to limit the intrusion of dust and other small debris that block the keys.
Apple did not say a word about this improvement, preferring to talk about an effort on silence of the typing. Yet this film is part of the solutions described in a patent of September 2016 to limit the arrival of dust under the keys.
iFixit will conduct tests to check the ability of this film to hold dust away but it seems that Apple has quietly corrected the main defect of this keyboard … without saying it (read MacBook Pro: the silence around the new keyboard).
Another question, the previous MacBook Pro who are today brought in SAV at Apple will take advantage of this keyboard? At the launch of the repair program initiated by Apple, technicians had confirmed that the reference of the new keyboard to install was identical to the previous one.
