Nothing remains but rubble. A five-storey residential building collapsed on Monday morning around 9am, in the middle of Aubagne Street, in the center of Marseille, a police source said. The firefighters went on the spot to try to find possible victims.

It collapsed suddenly. People cry and are shocked, we could have died
tells Guylaine Idoux who lives a few tens of meters from the collapsed building. "It's fallen to the other side of the sidewalk, I go there every day, and there may be squatters."

Guylaine Idoux is very angry. She had alerted the town hall two months ago on the risk of collapse of the old building. Nothing was done.
The reasons for the collapse are not known, but it could be related to gas. The traffic was cut in the street of Aubagne.
