Deprived of its two main goalkeepers, Monaco finds itself in a delicate situation at two days of the game against FC Bruges in the Champions League. So much so that the club has applied for a derogation from UEFA to register a new player, reports BFM Sport.
Decidedly, nothing is going to Monaco right now.
Beaten (1-2) in Strasbourg in Ligue 1 this Saturday for the premiere of Thierry Henry on the bench, the club of the principality is also in great difficulty on the European scene. Last in his group after two defeats in the first two days, Monaco must now face a problem in its workforce, says BFM Sport. Indeed, his two guardians, Croatian Danijel Subasic, and Switzerland's Diego Benaglio were injured.
And in Strasbourg, this Saturday, the third goalkeeper, Seydou Sy, had to keep the cages. However, the Senegalese international under 20 is not on the European list provided by Monaco early in the season. The club must then rely on his number 4, the young French Loïc Badiashile (20 years) and a single game on the clock with the pros.
Two guardians under 20 years old?
To cope with this situation, the club's management sent a rather improbable request to UEFA two days before the match in Belgium, says BFM Sport, which confirms information from the team. She wants Seydou Sy to qualify exceptionally for this match. Monaco invokes an emergency case, insisting that his first two goalkeepers are injured.
So, will the European authority give in to the sirens of the Monegasque club? Nothing is less certain especially as the rules are strict in terms of players' qualifications. Loïc Badiashile is present on the list, thanks to his training on the Rock. Each club can indeed enter on the "list B" an unlimited number of players from its training center.
If UEFA refuses, one solution will propose in Monaco: play Badiashile and put on the bench the guard of the Youth League team, Yanis Henin. He is also 19 years old.
