multi-video calls are started

Expected since last October and officially announced at the F8 developers conference in May, grouped calls land on WhatsApp. The deployment of this new feature is done since yesterday gradually around the world, both on iPhone and Android. It concerns audio and video calls and does not change the encryption of communications that remains from end to end.

Four people maximum

Small disappointment, however, calls are limited to four people, as specified in the blog official. To access it, simply make a call to a contact, then add people to the top right of the screen as can be seen in the screenshot below:

Originally used primarily for his written messaging, WhatsApp sees his audio and video calls heavily solicited. "For two years now, our users have been enjoying making voice calls and video calls on WhatsApp, so that over 2 billion minutes have gone into calls every day." True competition for mobile operators

WhatsApp is not the first to offer bundled calls that are now a standard. Messenger, who also belongs to Facebook, inaugurated them in late 2016, Instagram in June, and competitor Snapchat last April with a high limit of 16 participants. We also expect the official launch of iOS12 that will make video calls with 32 people thanks to Face Time.
