Edouard Philippe, Prime Minister, ended his talks on Thursday, July 5 with local elected officials and took advantage of his visit to Nantes to confirm more information than to make new announcements.

Concerning the compensation fund

It has three objectives: badistance to soundproofing works to residents; help with the relocation of public facilities, particularly the Saint-Aignan-de-Grandlieu schools and the Bouguenais College, two establishments that are particularly impacted by aircraft overflight noise; to contribute to the right of abandonment, that is to say the redemption or the compensation for the most affected inhabitants, who would like to sell their house.

On the other hand, it gives no amount, no perimeter, nor any date This fund will operate from the beginning of 2019. It will be financed by the State, the future concessionaire and, where applicable, the local authorities. The Department of Loire-Atlantique has already announced that it would contribute.

About Nantes-Atlantique

The Prime Minister confirms the termination of the concession contract with Vinci. A new contract will be signed in 2021. By then, Vinci is acting, and the state negotiates short-term work to improve pbadenger comfort. That would bring "on a few tens of millions of euros, both for the car parks and the current terminal", which will be carried out in 2019.

On the other hand, more heavy work on the runway or on a possible second terminal, will be made only after 2021, once the new manager appointed.

He did not say anything about the future road or rail service of the airport.

Other confirmation of the Prime Minister: the State undertakes to repay, before the end of the summer, the 29 million euros of subsidy paid by the local authorities for the transfer of the airport to Notre-Dame-des-Landes. This aid had pbaded through the airport joint syndicate

Philippe Grosvalet has already promised that part of the 7 million euros coming back to the Department will be allocated to the Nantes-Atlantique compensation fund. The other party will go to support the development of municipalities in the Erdre and Gesvres territory where the airport was to move.

For night flights

The Prime Minister understands both the need for tranquility of residents, and the need for economic development of the city. "A solution is to think about reconciling these two legitimate demands." The idea would not necessarily be a total ban on night flights, but rather to prioritize slots. It remains vague.

For the Zad of Notre-Dame-des-Landes

The Prime Minister confirms the retrocession of 895 ha to the Department, from January 2019. On the other hand, this retrocession will not be symbolic euro, as requested by Philippe Grosvalet, President of the Department. "We will ensure a neutral operation for the Department", ensures Édouard Philippe.

The Department had sold these lands from the Zad to the State, just under 5 million EUR.
