"It's unbreathable," the detainees at the Villepinte prison in Seine-Saint-Denis pestered in a video that Europe 1 procured on Saturday. At this time of heat wave, the prisoners are sorry for their conditions of incarceration, which they consider unbearable.

On the video, the four detainees film themselves in their narrow cell of nine square meters, originally planned for two. "It is unacceptable!" they throw through the cell they say overheated. One of them denounces in particular a window the plexiglas sealed thanks to screws to avoid any opening or aeration.

"It is 50 degrees, we can breathe!" they grumble at the image. "If you can do something, do it, it's been two hours that we call the supervisors, they do not want to come."

The images show a cell almost unlighted and disordered, where clothes and objects lie. We also see broken fans dragging on the floor. L The detainees then badure that their belongings were turned upside down during the search of the guards.

"We have nothing left, they have thrown us all!" can be heard in the video

Repairs planned

The video, filmed this Friday, does not last more than a minute and was illegally released from the prison through the family of one of the detainees.

To explain the Plexiglas window, the prison administration told our confreres in Europe 1 that this was an exception, that it had been laid because the window had been broken and to prevent the infiltration of water in hailstorms, admitting that this had caused a sharp rise in the temperature in the cell.

The management of the penitentiary center was to change these cell detainees this Saturday at the end of the day, before repairs are made this Monday.
