Several frozen vegetable products from Hungary sold in supermarkets in France were recalled following an alert for possible listeria contamination.
Salads prepared, tabboulehed, pan-fried or corn … about twenty products have been placed under surveillance by the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control (DGCCRF). They are the subject of reminders by distributors or manufacturers because of possible contamination with listeria.
The alert concerns vegetables of D'aucy, Freshona or even Leader Price brands marketed by major Auchan brands , Carrefour, Intermarché … You will find the detailed list on the website of the DGCCRF
The Hungarian authorities have identified the probable cause of contamination in a factory of Greenyard company located on its territory. No case of listeriosis related to the consumption of these products has been identified to date in France. But the health authorities recommend that people who hold the products concerned by this alert not to consume them and to bring them back to the point of sale where they were purchased.
Listeriosis, a rare but serious infection
Listeriosis is a serious foodborne infection caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes . The incubation time can be up to eight weeks. The usual symptoms are more or less fever, accompanied by headaches and sometimes digestive disorders (nausea, diarrhea, vomiting).
This infection can lead to sepsis or infection of the central nervous system. In pregnant women, it can cause abortion, premature labor, or severe neonatal infection. In France, the disease remains rare (incidence of 5 to 6 cases per million inhabitants), but fatal in 20 to 30% of cases occurring outside pregnancy
