The iPhone of 2018 will be three in number. Apple plans to release a model for smaller budgets equipped with an LCD, while two more high-end version with OLED screen are in the boxes. One of them will even adopt the phablette format. Release date, price, specifications and design, we tell you everything we know about the next iPhone!
Apple will take advantage of its keynote of September 2018 to unveil the next three iPhone that will be available in autumn 2018. The Cupertino company is preparing a lower-cost model to attract consumers on a limited budget, another that will be a simple evolution of the iPhone X and finally a phablette that will compete with the Galaxy Note 9. We summarize in this folder all we know about these three iPhone so far.
iPhone 2018: Datasheets
For 2018, Apple is preparing three iPhone. The cheapest will be entitled to a 6.1-inch LCD, while one would have expected a more compact format. The Cupertino company seems less and less convinced by the interest of offering screens smaller than its Android competitors. A higher-end iPhone, presented as the heir to the iPhone X, will be equipped with a 5.8-inch OLED panel. While the latest model will propose a huge OLED screen of 6.5 inches. Apple will enter the segment of phablets, and will not pretend. It remains to be seen what will be proposed in terms of battery. Autonomy is sometimes not a strong point of the iPhone
For the rest, the information is for the moment rather rare. A Geekbench benchmark brought us some elements, without knowing which model of iPhone with OLED screen it is. This one has taught us that an outgoing iPhone version in 2018 will be equipped with 4 GB of RAM, against 3 GB for the iPhone X. A SoC of six hearts has been spotted. Of course we expect Apple's A12 chip, the first to be engraved in 7nm. With scores of 4673 in single-core and 10912 in multi-core on Geekbench, this iPhone sends very heavy. Not surprisingly, we see that it runs on iOS 12, only available in public beta for the moment.
Small additional detail, a USB-C charger much faster than that of previous generations should be included in the box of the next iPhone. No change of hardware to provide however for smartphones themselves, which retain their lightning port. A USB-C to Lightning cable is also planned.
What design for the iPhone from 2018?
Despite its "entry-level" side, the LCD iPhone will be borderless. Whoever is presented as a successor to the iPhone SE will be entitled to finer borders than one might have thought. Digitimes reports that Apple has found a solution through a partnership with the Japanese company Nichia to halve the size of the borders with LCD screens. The backlight system will use 0.3t LED chips instead of the usual 0.4t LEDs. More complicated to put in place, but more effective.
Of course, both iPhone with OLED panel will be entitled to an even more borderless screen. According to Bloomberg, LG will provide up to 4 million OLED screens to Apple, but Samsung will remain by far the main supplier. Otherwise, we expect no revolution on these new iPhone in terms of design, which should resume in outline the iPhone X released late 2017.
In terms of colors, the two high-end iPhone should be content with something clbadic and sober. In short, nothing surprising to expect from that side. Unless Apple decides to launch a gold version for its phablet, a possibility that has been mentioned. However, we should have much more fun for the iPhone with LCD, which would be entitled to 5 rather original acidic colors like the iPhone 5C: gray, white, blue, orange and red.
iPhone 2018: price and release date
Apple is likely to officially present its three new iPhone in a keynote held in September 2018. However, we currently have no indication of the actual release of devices on the market. We also do not know if they will all be available at the same time or if their marketing will be spaced out in time. In any case, we plan on an outing between the end of September and the beginning of November 2018.
As far as fares are concerned, we already have more elements to put in our mouths. The price of the iPhone 2018 was announced by badyst Ming-Chi Kuo, specializing in current projects Apple. According to him, the iPhone with LCD will be offered between 600 and 700 dollars, which is very affordable for an iPhone. The expected intermediate version would be available between 800 and dollars. While the Plus variant will be the most upscale with a price certainly between $ 900 and $ 1000.
