The Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair announced Wednesday the cancellation of 600 flights in Europe, due to a strike by cabin crew in Spain, Portugal and Belgium. These cancellations will affect a total of 100,000 pbadengers over two days, according to the company.
100,000 people are directly affected by the strike that will last from July 25 to 26 at Ryanair. "Up to 200 daily flights" will be canceled from / to Spain, 50 from / to Portugal and 50 from / to Belgium, the company said in a statement. Either 300 flights a day and 600 over the two days of strike, confirmed a spokesman for the company. Ryanair says it has offered the 100,000 pbadengers concerned "the possibility of being rebadigned on an alternative flight operating within seven days before or after 25 and 26 July". Customers "will also be able to receive a full refund of their tickets."

In early July, five unions issued an appeal strike for Ryanair cabin crew in Belgium, Spain, Portugal and Italy. In the latter country, however, the company expects its business to go "as planned," a spokesman for Ryanair said. The unions that called for this strike demand, inter alia, that the company apply the legislation of each country in which it employs staff and that it grant the same working conditions to employees who are directly under contract with the company and its temporary staff. For the moment, Ryanair only recognizes the unions representing its staff (pilots and cabin crew). Those who call for this strike in late July are not recognized. At the beginning of June, two cabin crew unions were recognized by Ryanair in Italy, a first for this category of employees.
