Samsung has just introduced its SoC Exynos 9820 that will be found in the Galaxy S10. This is an octo-core chip with a big.middle.little configuration and an 8 nm etch. In concrete terms, this means that it has two 4th generation Samsung cores for the heaviest tasks, two Cortex A75 cores in accompaniment and four Cortex A55 cores for basic tasks in order to limit energy consumption.
According to Samsung, the Exynos 9820 would be 40% more efficient than the previous generation, but also 20% more powerful in a single-chip and 15% multi-core. Regarding the graphic part, there is a ARM Mali-G76 GPU – the same as that of the Kirin 980. An NPU (Neural Processing Unit) is also present, in order to improve the performances of the AI. Finally, it integrates a 4G LTE-Advanced Pro modem that is capable (in theory) of reaching a bandwidth of 2 Gbit / s download and 316 MB / s upload.
Samsung says this chip is capable of handling up to five photo sensors. What confirm the previous rumors, as the Galaxy S10 would have a triple photo sensor on the back and a dual sensor in the front. The production of this chip should begin before the end of 2018.
