After slamming the door of the Patriots earlier this month, Sophie Montel filed a complaint Wednesday against the party's president, Florian Philippot, for "use of forgery." The MEP also lodged a complaint against X for "forgery and misappropriation of public funds."
The complaint was sent by mail in the morning by Mr. Randall Schwerdorffer, the lawyer of the former FN , at the national financial prosecutor's office and at the European Anti-Fraud Office (Olaf)
Sophie Montel claims that the president of Les Patriotes used without his approval a delegation of signature, which allowed Les Patriotes to its parliamentary envelope. She claims to have accidentally discovered the existence of a delegation of power, dated 3 October 2017, signed by herself, Florian Philippot, and the third MEP Les Patriotes, Mireille d'Ornano, for the benefit of Florian Philippot, particularly in as regards the sums allocated to each MEP for his communication expenses (EUR 80 000 per year)
A "ridiculous" accusation against Philippot's lawyer
The MEP claims to have "never signed this document, "according to the complaint. The common pot of the three MEPs was used to buy, on a line of "gadgets" with 20 559,20 euros, 1,200 canvas bags 9 euros excluding taxes part, made by a printer working with Les Patriotes and whose MEP believes they have been overcharged.
"There has therefore been misappropriation of European public funds for the undoubted benefit of the Les Patriotes movement," says Sophie Montel in her complaint. In a statement, the lawyer of Florian Philippot, Me Georges Sauveur, judged "ridiculous" the accusation of forgery in writing, believing that Sophie Montel is "in a logic of political perdition". He claims that he will lodge a complaint "against his defamation and slanderous denunciations."
According to him, several documents from Sophie Montel's office "bear the same signature" and Sophie Montel "always knew that there was a mutualisation of budgets allocated to the three MEPs. Finally, the lawyer badures that "no expense of the Patriots has been financed by the European Parliament". Sophie Montel slammed the door of the Patriotes denouncing the "divine solitude" of its president and "the dysfunctional aspect" of the movement
