After the first official images, here is the spec sheet of the new Jimny, who succeeds a model 20 years old. Still as aesthetically pleasing, the small Japanese 4×4 becomes more modern while retaining the rudimentary character of its predecessors.
This new generation remains true to the principle of chbadis-scale with rigid axle suspensions. Equipped with an all-wheel drive and a torque redistribution system that works with the brakes, it should still be very comfortable crossing.
Under the hood is a four-cylinder gasoline 1.5 liter delivering 102 hp and 130 Nm of torque. When supported by a five-speed manual transmission, this engine consumes on average 6.8 liters / 100 km and propels the Jimny at a top speed of 145 km / h. With the four-speed automatic gearbox, the top speed drops to 140 km / h and the average fuel consumption rises to 7.5 liters / 100 km. Releases of CO 2 which vary from 154 g to 198 g / km depending on the box and the method of calculation (NEDC or WLTP), will lead to penalties in France.
Length of 3.48 m , the new Jimny can board four people and 85 liters of luggage (the volume increases to 377 liters once the bench folded). Better equipped and safer than its predecessor, it has a 7-inch touch screen, six airbags, automatic emergency braking, panel recognition system, lane departure warning or control.
For the moment, neither the prices nor the articulation of the range in France have been communicated.
