Riot Games launches a brand new experimental game mode for League of Legends.

While everyone hopes that Riot Games unveils an MMO, it's finally a brand new game mode for League of Legends coming up very soon: Nexus Blitz .

Two teams of five players compete to destroy the opposing nexus in an arms race on a single lane. This lane is divided into two branches and is bordered by a jungle. Riot estimates that three players will have to hold the lanes while the other two will have to face the jungle, but we obviously expect to discover several meta.

The object of the game is simple: destroy the enemy Nexus as soon as possible. Each kill brings buffs to the player who has the last shot on an opponent, the parties may be fast and electric. In order to ensure that everything does not drag on, there is even a time limit from which the game goes into sudden death. Dead players will not be able to reappear.

This experimental game mode is available on the PTS and will be posted on the live server in the patch of August 15 .

This is clearly an attempt by Riot Games to create a more casual and mainstream mode for its MOBA. If we do not have real numbers, the craze for Fortnite seems to offend the popularity of League of Legends and it is normal that Riot tries to react by proposing new ways to enjoy his game. The press release that we have received claims that this is a first experimental mode, which implies that other surprises could emerge soon. It remains to be seen if all this will be enough to give a new impetus to the most popular game of recent years.
