Upstream of the IFA that will open in just one month, Sony unveils its new generation of TVs. Its "Master Series" thus include a new OLED tile, the AF9, and an LCD screen, the ZF9.
Just a few months after the AF8, unveiled at the CES in January 2018 and tested in our Labo little after that, it is the AF9 announced by Sony. This OLED model does not arrive alone, since it is accompanied by a ZF9 boarding an LCD panel. The duo is integrated in the "Master Series" of the Nippon, which corresponds to its premium screens.

The AF9, to begin, is declined in two models obviously : one of 55 and the other of 65 inches. Equipped with the new X1 Ultimate processor, this OLED screen, like the previous generations of Sony TV, benefits from Acoustic Surface sound, but this time in the Audio + version. This improved grind now has side subwoofers in addition to three actuators positioned under the slab and intended to better distribute the sound. On the image side, Sony promises a better rendering thanks to its Pixel Contrast Booster system: "The 8 million pixels self-illuminated and Sony's exclusive controller for OLED tiles provide a visual rendering considerably enriched by unparalleled blacks, authentic colors and a wide angle of view " he ensures. Finally, note that this TV board Android TV with Google Assistant, and that its design with a rear foot takes the style of the first OLED TV from Sony, the A1 from 2017.

The ZF9 is also equipped with Android TV and the X1 Ultimate processor dedicated to the management of HDR, but has a 65 or 75 inch LCD panel. The device offers a full LED backlight with local dimming to provide "ultra-high contrast" and incorporates the X-tended Dynamic Range Pro system intended to improve locally the contrast.

Netflix in the spotlight
The announcement of these two ranges of TV, whose date and the introductory price remain to be specified, is also the opportunity for Sony to promote its partnership with Netflix. We knew the addition of a button dedicated to the direct access to the sVoD service on TV remote controls. Today, it's a "Netflix Calibrated Mode" that debuts. According to the Japanese manufacturer, he "guarantees the cinematic fidelity of Netflix programs. Developed by Sony's image quality engineers in collaboration with Netflix's Chromists, the Netflix Calibrated Mode displays image quality similar to that of a control monitor normally used as a reference by film studios.
