Since 1 July 2018, French motorists can no longer exceed 80 km / h on secondary roads without a central separator. The lawyers of the deputies pleaded a argument of size before the Council of State: according to the deputies, the experimentation has not was probative. Between July 2015 and July 2017, the limitation to 80km / h had been tested on 86 kilometers of roads, but elected officials believe that the two-year testing period is not sufficient. They plead for a period of at least five years.
Moreover, they denounce the fact that this experiment took place on 86 kilometers of roads, whereas today it is 400.000 kilometers which are impacted by the new limitation. If the arguments of the deputies are heard, the Council of State has the power to suspend this measure.
