The State Council gives the green light to the Twin Towers project at the Defense

This project was disputed by the groups Axa and Allianz, because it involves the demolition of buildings of which they are co-owners.

The Sages gave the go-ahead for the project. The State Council has validated the construction of two twin towers of 320 m to the Defense, announced the developer of the project, Friday, July 27. The institution rejected Thursday the appeals of groups Axa and Allianz, who opposed the project because it involves the destruction of buildings of which they are co-owners.

The building permit for these towers was issued by the Mayor of Courbevoie (Hauts-de-Seine). These twin towers, named Hermitage, were designed by architect Norman Foster. They must culminate at 320 m is four meters less than the Eiffel Tower – on the banks of the Seine. The cost of this first French complex combining luxury residences, offices, hotels and businesses is estimated at 2.8 billion euros.

"The decision of the Council of State is a very important step, which confirms our delivery schedule for the Tours for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris ", reacted the project's Russian promoter, Emin Iskenderov.

Launched in 2007, the operation got bogged down in dozens of proceedings before several civil and administrative jurisdictions. The first demolition work has not started yet.

In April 2017, the Tours Hermitage project received the approval of a part of the neighborhood that hitherto blocked the site. "The start date of the work should be defined at the beginning of the school year, but always with the delivery target at the beginning of 2024", insisted Emin Iskenderov.

A number of tenants of destroyed buildings, in case of completion of the project, still resist and refuse to leave their apartments. This is particularly the case of several residents of the residence Les Damiers. A year ago, 19 tenants still refused to leave their homes on the 250 or so buildings in the building.
