"It took very little for the gendarmes to question," laments a senior officer of the gendarmerie. The investigation into the hunt of Redoine Faïd, a recidivist robber who escaped from the prison of Réau (Seine-et-Marne), on 1 July, experienced a spectacular rebound after the discovery Tuesday evening of a car charged with explosives in a shopping center in Sarcelles (Val-d'Oise). As we revealed on Wednesday, the police of the Central Directorate of Judicial Police (DCPJ) think they identified the offender on the run as one of the occupants who abandoned the vehicle.

If the badyzes of the technical and scientific police – still in progress – confirm this track, it would be the first time that Faïd, 46 years old, is spotted since his beautiful by helicopter. And this could be a new misstep by the suspect and his accomplices, already in trouble by the discovery of a bag filled with weapons in a forest of the Oise.

VIDEO. Redoine Faïd spotted in Sarcelles

It is around 16:15 Tuesday when a gendarmerie patrol spots a suspicious Renault Laguna in Piscop (Val-d'Oise) and decides to carry out its control. The driver, accompanied by a pbadenger, has just committed a traffic offense and the pandores note with their embedded technology that the license plate of the vehicle is false.

But the duo refuses to settle on the roadside. He accelerates and takes the direction of Sarcelles, pandores on the hunt. The car is seen engulfing in an underground parking of the sign "Auchan Myspace" of Sarcelles. The suspects immediately abandon him and flee on foot into the shopping center.

The commune being in police zone, it is a crew of the anticriminality brigade which makes the first findings. Officials are stunned to find inside the Laguna a set of fake license plates, six plastic loaves, 18 pencil detonators, several liters of gasoline stored in cans and … a brand new barbecue. Warned, the deminers confirm that these are homemade explosives – but the whole was not connected – and have the shopping center loop.

"The vise tightens on Faïd"

In the evening, the investigation accelerates. The police officers of the Versailles PJ watch the surveillance images of the parking and recognize one of the fugitives as the most wanted man in France: Redoine Faïd! The descriptions of the witnesses seem to confirm that this is indeed the robber nicknamed "Pixi". A police file, consulted by our newspaper, presents them as "armed and extremely dangerous individuals".

But the videos are of average quality: we see two men, one with a grizzled beard and wearing a beret, down a staircase. The second man would have been recognized as one of Faid's brothers. Investigators rely on fingerprints and genetic fingerprints found in Laguna to support their suspicions. "Different batches of seals – most likely to leave traces – were sent to the Scientific Police Laboratory in order of priority. But the vice tightens on Faïd ", explains a source close to the case.

Hazard disturbing of the calendar: according to our information, Olivier G., an ex-accomplice of Faïd fell with him in the case of the robbery aborted de Villiers-sur-Marne (2010), was arrested Monday and locked the next day. Controlled for having grilled a stop at Villers-Saint-Paul (Oise), he was wanted to serve his six-year prison sentence, pronounced on appeal last April. He had then appeared in the box of the accused alongside Faïd. At the material time, Olivier G.'s DNA was found on an adhesive tape used for explosives. If he is not at this stage suspected in the investigation of the escape of his former boss, the police are interested in the environment close to the robber in the Oise.
