Toulon breaks the spiral

By overcoming Perpignan, not without harm (26-16), Toulon ended a series of five defeats and gives himself air with the bottom of the rankings. Following the test of Xavier Chiocci from the third minute of play, it was thought that the RCT was launched to finally break free. It was more complicated than expected. On the return, Perpignan equalized by Forletta (7-7) after a nice air hole in the defense of Toulon. Then, the first period fell into a game of cross-sanctioned penalties and a string of in-front (11 in total, 7 for Toulon, 4 for Perpignan). But surprise, it is the Usap who led at half-time (13-16) under the bronca of Mayol. It was not until the first try of Julian Savea under the colors red and black for the RCT to take the lead (20-16, 43). It was then the boot of François Trinh-Duc who did the rest. The international opener, not selected for the tour of the Blues, finished the meeting with a 6/7 against the poles. A victory that allows Toulon to climb to twelfth place.

Castres takes the bonus

Castres had a desire for revenge. Upgraded to Clermont last week (6-41), dominated by the same Palois last season at Pierre-Fabre (25-27), the men of Christophe Urios even had ants in their legs. After six minutes of play, they had already widened a gap (12-3). Two attempts by Armand Batlle (4th) and Robert Ebersohn (6th) gave the measure of a one-sided game. At the half-hour mark, Castres even had the offensive bonus point thanks to his overwhelming dominance in scrum. Led 30-3 at the break, the Palois have obviously turned their heads in the second half. More aggressive, much more disciplined, they scored an attempt by Steffon Armitage (58th) but failed to sustain the pace imposed by Castrais very players and more powerful like the test entered in force by Alex Tulou (65). Nor, by the way, take advantage of the many castraise faults. Dominated in conquest, especially in touch, they suffered a relentless setback (37-10).

La Rochelle has a minimum

The scoreboard (33-29) Marcel-Deflandre stadium is misleading: La Rochelle and Agen have increased the score, but in a game not really spectacular, marked by approximations of both teams as the referee. In the cold, it was even the visitors who had taken the score on a penalty test, which responded to the Maritimes by a beautiful inspiration from Balès, a chistera to launch Aguillon in a gap, for a last relay to the ghost Gourdon ( 25th). Back to back at the break (16-13), both teams were chasing after the locker room. And if La Rochelle took a little margin (tests of Aguillon and Balès), Agen felt that it was possible to bring something back: a late trial of Laporte (77th) has materialized this good will and the SUA is collecting a bonus important defensive.
