Tour de France 2018: Follow the 6th stage live – Tour de France

The first stage for this Tour de France puncher has kept a lot of his promises. The rugged and tortuous course proved to be tricky, but the favorites' teams locked the pursuit of the breakaways, who left early. Of the 7 leading men, two Direct Energie riders, Sylvain Chavanel and Lilian Calmejane, led the race, although it was Latvian Tom Skujins who bested it by donning the polka-dot jersey for the best climber. In the company of Calmejane, the Latvian has tried everything, but was taken back in the last 10 kilometers by a pack of packs and terribly well organized.

Direct Energie ensured the show

The 204.5 kilometers between Lorient and Quimper were only used to admire the beautiful Breton landscape and warm the big punchers who explained themselves in the last two kilometers, in Quimper. And at this little game, it was the world champion and green jersey Peter Sagan who was the strongest. Well led by his teammates, who actively participated in the pursuit of escaped with the BMC, the Slovak managed perfectly this end of race, producing his effort in the last 200 meters.

Yet powerful and fit, Sonny Colbrelli (2nd) did not manage to overtake him, while Philippe Gilbert launched his sprint too early (3rd). Leader in general, the Belgian Greg Van Avermaet has also played the win, but must be satisfied with the 7th place, which still ensures him to keep his yellow tunic one more day. Sagan wins his second victory on this Tour and reinforces his green jersey.
