“Frances McDormand is a beast”

Denzel Washington thinks his Macbeth’s tragedy The costar Frances McDormand is like a wild animal.

“Frances McDormand is a beast,” Washington, 66, told reporters of his wife’s ferocity on screen at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York on Friday night.

The actor described how Macbeth’s tragedy Writer and director Joel Coen, 66, and his real wife, McDormand, 64, assembled an international group and included Juilliard School graduates for the black and white film that stars Washington and McDormand in the role of Lord and Lady Macbeth, respectively. Washington also discussed his thoughts on Manhattan’s prospects during the global COVID-19 outbreak.

“They put together a brilliant cast and team of Brits and Americans and others and Juilliards and so it was a great experience and I hope we really will be back,” shares Washington.

The two-Oscar-winning optimist thinks it’s important that New York City is reasonable in order to stay open. “If we’re wise we’ll be fine. If not, we’ll close again, so I’m hopeful,” he adds.

So what does Washington think of his film, based on the William Shakespeare classic, opening the 59th New York Film Festival?

“Not too shabby, not too shabby,” he admits.
