I just spent the last few minutes registering for Disney + and downloading apps for iOS, Android and Apple TV. I then spent a few more minutes, many in fact, streaming titles like Avengers War Infinity, Star Wars the last Jedi, Incredibles 2, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, and Free Solo. No, I'm not a decorated general fighting on the front lines of the war, I'm just a guy living in the Netherlands, where the Disney + service has been put online. It's a free driver that runs until November 12, after which it will cost you $ 6.99 / month.
I agree with my colleague Julia Alexander, who described the Disney + experience as "empty, but elegant". Compared to Netflix, there is not much content here. However, compared to Apple TV +, there is a ton and it is very easy to find. A top row selection lets you quickly jump into Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star wars, or National Geographic titles. These inviting boxes are placed directly under a carousel across the width and display the best hits promoted from each section. More than once I found myself thinking:oh yes, it's a Disney movie ยป while I was browsing hundreds of titles.
It has already been reported that only four Marvel films will be available when they are launched on November 12: Captain Marvel, Thor: The World of Darkness, Iron Man, and Iron Man 3; with Avengers: End of the game available later in December. The Dutch driver – perhaps due to different licensing agreements – has 18 Marvel titles, but it is currently missing End of Game and Captain Marvel:

The Disney + home page conveniently sorts the content of all Disney + sections into a number of useful categories such as Hit Movies, Out of the Vault Classics, Musicals and Documentaries.
A 4K Ultra HD and HDR section is made up of 17 titles, including some of the Avenger and Star wars sagas. Unfortunately, the Disney + search function does not work for terms like "4K", "HDR" or "Ultra HD". Even the titles listed in the 4K Ultra HD and HDR section do not identify as 4K once you click on it. pages. Here is the complete list available right now:

Some other observations:
- I was able to create a maximum of seven viewer profiles.
- Children can be assigned to profiles to limit content to the least scary.
- AirPlay runs from my iPhone to Apple TV.
- Chromecast works from my Android device.
- Downloading movies to my phone for offline playback works as expected.
- Disney + is also accessible via a web browser. It worked well in Safari and Chrome on my MacBook.
- The Disney + interface looks great on Apple TV, as you would expect with its own layout. I would expect the same from Roku.
- I was able to watch a movie on Apple TV, and then switch to my Android device and my iPhone, where the same movie was queued and ready to be watched at the same time. However, there is no such transfer to web browsers.
- At one point, I had five Disney + streams – three devices, two web browsers – running simultaneously even though the limit is said to be four. Two were in the browsers if shrug emoji.
- There's a Prince and Fairy Tales section with every Disney Princess movie I'm thinking of, classics like Cinderella at the modern takes like Moana. My daughter will love this.
For a pilot, all the experience was bug-free. No quirks in the applications, no unexpected buffering, nothing that could harm a first broadcast of Disney's otherwise strong streaming service.
