Friday's football notes: the former Steeler rips Antonio Brown; O.J. Simpson sits down

"Friday Soccer Notes" is back for Week 1 of the NFL season.

Both O.J. Simpson and Merril Hoge socked on Antonio Brown. Drew Rosenhaus does not seem optimistic for Monday night for A.B. And we have information about the Cleveland and New England wounds.

Rosenhaus not rosey

If Drew Rosenhaus can not even turn things in your direction, you are probably wrong.

Antonio Brown's agent did everything possible to defuse the time bomb in Oakland on Thursday night.

But with ProFootballTalk.com's Mike Florio, Rosenhaus could not hope the former Steelers catcher would be on the field with the Raiders Monday night against Denver.

All of this is the result of a division between Brown and Raiders GM Mike Mayock.

Brown is upset with Mayock for fining him for missed workouts. Mayock is crazy that Brown posted the letter describing his fines on social media.

We do not know if Brown will play Monday. We do not know if he will play with the Raiders.

And if we base ourselves on this conversation with Florio and Rosenhaus, one thing is obvious. Brown's team is trying to build a gap between Mayock and Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.

Gruden has been a crush on Brown because he is desperate to get A.B. incorporated into the offense. It was obvious if you watched Hard Knocks on HBO.

Meanwhile, Mayock plays the heavy game and tries to make sure that Brown will not escape the preferential treatment he abused in Pittsburgh.

This should end well.

Mad Merril

Merril Hoge brought back Antonio Brown to 93.7 Fan this week.

The Steelers' former running back has attacked Brown for his overworked attitude and work ethic.

"There is not more waste than hard work," said Hoge. "Everyone in the NFL works hard. Anyone who is a good pro works hard. Because he works hard, it does not stop you from being a bad pro. "

Also, how much does Brown work if he skips so many practices, meetings, and games?

"It's a terrible pro," said Hoge. "He's embarrassed by the National Football League."

On top of that, it was a laudatory review of the former receiver of the Steelers passes.

O.J. on A.B.

O.J. Simpson also sits on Antonio Brown.

O.J took to Twitter to argue with Brown to get online and get back to work.

Why? For all the right reasons – help Simpson's fantastic team.

Keep in mind, Vontaze Burfict was the dude who caught Brown to go after Mayock during their skirmish this week.

So, in other words, Burfict and Simpson are guys trying to get Brown to calm down and be reasonable.

What does that tell you?

Uh oh, Odell

Odell Beckham Jr. will probably start the season less than 100%.

The new receiver of the Cleveland Browns is facing a hip problem that does not allow him to go at full speed to practice.

"I was a little scared to open it," Beckham said via Cleveland.com. "It's something that keeps me from running as fast as I can."

Beckham had a totally sober way of describing his situation.

"It's like an extremely fast car without alignment. The car can still leave, but it's dangerous, "he said.

Browns coach Freddie Kitchens did not have an OBJ. And he says Beckham will be "good to play" against the Titans on Sunday.

But it seems that the significant acquisition of Cleveland during the off-season will be below peak performance.

News from New England

We know that patriots have questions in the ranks that attract passes after Julian Edelman.

And frankly, his tired thumb can also be a problem.

But their injury report is about as thin as the Steelers report.

No injured player has totally retired to coach in New England. Matt LaCosse (ankle), goaltender Obi Melifonwu (ankle) and wide receiver Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) all participated at least in a limited way.

Watch Thomas and LaCosse as the weekend progresses.

Sean Davis (ankle) and Mark Barron (coach's decision) did not participate for the Steelers.
