The Titans will have to reduce their list from 90 to 53 on August 31 at 4:00 pm Eastern Time. In this spirit, let's see who could be and who could be absent if things happen at the end of the second game of the pre-season.
Strategist
In: Marcus Mariota, Ryan Tannehill
Outside: Logan Woodside
It may be a little reactionary after Woodside's tough outing on Saturday night, but I feel it's going to take almost perfect camp / pre-season from the second year QB to force the Titans to keep three callers on 53 players list. The ideal situation for the team would be to bring Woodside back to the training team in order to keep an emergency option in case of emergency in the building if something had to arrive at Mariota or Tannehill rather than take a place on the list. with a guy who will automatically be inactive every week.

In: Derrick Henry, David Dion, David Fluellen, Jeremy McNichols

My decision for last place in the offensive was made by Woodside against McNichols and me with McNichols. I think Fluellen's place is still safe as long as he is able to get healthy before the end of the pre-season. The team wants it to be the main backback this year, in addition to providing depth to the back and its usual role as a key special teammate. McNichols made a pretty compelling case for a spot in the lineup in the first two pre-season games. He ran the ball well, grabbed the ball well and did a great job on pass protection.
Wide receiver
In: Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, AJ Brown, Tajae Sharpe, Taywan Taylor, Darius Jennings
Outside: Kalif Raymond, Cody Hollister, Anthony Ratliff-Williams, DeAngelo Yancey, White Papi, Tanner McEvoy
This group seems to be clarifying as we move further into the camp. Based on the rotations, it seems that Sharpe and Jennings will be on the list, joining Davis, Humphries and Brown as guys who seem relatively safe.
Sixth place in the standings is Taylor versus Raymond in the current state of things and I do not think Raymond has done enough to force the Titans' hand to date. Taylor was quite OK in the Patriots' pre-season – he made two difficult passes, but could not hold another one with a rake going through his arms on a deep ball – but he was much better at Workout and offers more potential than Raymond, who also dropped two passes in pre-season.
I do not think any of these other receivers are realistic at aligning. I think Hollister or Ratliff-Williams might well end up taking a place in the coaching team.
Tight end
In: Delanie Walker, Jonnu Smith, MyCole Pruitt, Anthony Firkser

There are some injury questions to answer here. First of all, Jonnu Smith will be ready soon. Depending on its schedule, the team may decide to start it on the PUP of the regular season, which will eliminate it for the first six games of 2019, but will give them an extra place in the game alignment during its absence . The second injury that has an impact here is that of David Fluellen. The team seemed poised to use it as their main backback this season, but his injury forced Ryan Hewitt to play that role. If Fluellen can not get healthy again in the first week, do the Titans decide to keep Hewitt specifically for backing?
Given the lack of available information on injuries, it is very difficult to predict what will happen here. I'm going to assume that Smith and Fluellen are going to be healthy during the first few weeks of the season and on the active player list. If so, I think we see the Titans keeping four here, with Pruitt and Firkser joining Walker and Smith.
Offensive line

*Lewan should start the season with a four-game suspension (his call hearing is this Thursday by Paul Kuharsky) and will not count for the initial training of 53 players.
I think there are seven types that are deadly locks for listing here: Lewan, Saffold, Jones, Pamphile, Conklin, Kelly and Davis. While Lewan should be suspended for the first four weeks of the season, the Titans will likely end up holding nine overall, including Lewan (Lewan will not be in the player list until he is activated after four weeks).
If it were all up to me, I would keep Aaron Stinnie or Hroniss Grasu above Jamil Douglas, but based on everything we've seen so far, Douglas would be closer to winning a role of beginning to get excluded from the list (as scary as it is).
I think there's also a chance that the Titans end up keeping Pasztor or Marz just to attack deep while Lewan is away, but those two seemed terrible in the preseason work and I think that the Titans would be better off slipping Saffold or Pamphile to attack if something were to happen to Kelly or Conklin during this time.
Defensive line
In: Jurrell Casey, Jeffery Simmons *, DaQuan Jones, Brent Urban, Matt Dickerson, Austin Johnson, Amani Bledsoe
Outside: Isaiah Mack, Braxton Hoyett, Chris Herr, Frank Herron, Eric Cotton
* Simmons will almost certainly start the season on the PUP list, which means that he will not be eligible to return before the 7th week at the earliest, but will not count against the 53-player lineup.
This group of positions has been a pleasant surprise for me so far. DaQuan Jones has had an outstanding off season and presents himself as a pre-season champion. The first returns are good for guys like Urban, Johnson and Dickerson.
The Titans also have a couple of unprepared recruits who are trying to crush the party to Isaiah Mack and Amani Bledsoe. Both guys played in the pre-season and Bledsoe witnessed the defense against the first team last week. I quote very closely the gesture in favor of Bledsoe because I believe that the team appreciates its ability to play as an advocate in four fronts, especially if it only keeps four outside linebackers (as I do in this projection). .
Keeping seven defensive linemen (including Simmons who will not count until he's activated) seems high, but I like the options here better than the outside linebackers.
Linebacker outside
In: Harold Landry, Cameron Wake, Sharif Finch and Kamalei Correa
Outside: LaTroy Lewis, Derick Roberson, Josh Smith
I go to the background lightly for several reasons. First, guys like Lewis and Roberson just did not do enough to show that they should be on this list. Second, Titans can hit Rashaan Evans on the outside if they encounter a real traffic jam at this location.
I still have some hope for Roberson – whom I consider a potential high-level special teams player with a decisive pass – but he has to start showing something in pre-season opportunities if he wants to to impose force. Otherwise, it looks like a potential pool of training teams that could develop.
Interior backbone
In: Rashaan Evans, Jayon Brown, Wesley Woodyard, Daren Bates, David Long
Outside: Ukeme Eligwe, Quart'e Sapp
This group seems pretty cut and dry. David Long has played enough to earn a spot in the lineup and the Bates team's capacity will keep him for another season.
cornerback
In: Malcolm Butler, Logan Ryan, Adoree Jackson, LeShaun Sims, Tye Smith and Kenneth Durden
Outside: Kareem Orr, Mike Jordan, Andre Payne
Titans have very good depth options around the corner this year. Sims, Smith, Durden and Orr all have very impressive camps. Orr is for the moment the strange man based primarily on the experience, but I could easily see him succeed if he could continue to play hard.
security
In: Kevin Byard, Kenny Vaccaro, Amani Hooker, Dane Cruikshank, Joshua Kalu
Outside: LaDarius Wiley, JoJo Tillery
