Call of Duty players have faced issues while trying to redeem Double XP Tokens in Black Ops Cold War. Many of them have taken to Reddit to report the issues and are demanding huge changes from Activision.
The integration of Warzone with Call of Duty: Cold War Black Ops has brought a plethora of exciting content for gamers. There are all new weapons you can unlock, as well as a playable Operator in Season 1. Additionally, Activision recently hosted a series of Double XP events for both titles.
Many players who obtained the battle pass received the Double XP tokens from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare this season. However, it didn’t go well and a discussion thread on Reddit highlighted the issues players face when using them. They want big changes to happen soon.
BOCW fans want changes in Double XP tokens
Many fans have been struggling with Double XP tokens for a solid year. The biggest gripe is that it takes forever to find a match when using them, which makes tokens seem like an unnecessary problem.
Reddit user u / Tritonpr95x posted a message regarding this issue to the Black Ops Cold War subdirectory. The player said it was irritating to waste time looking for matches on chips and it took a long time to find a game.
“Really bad, you waste so much time looking for matches on your token. I don’t know what it is, but after some research it seems a lot of people have the same problem where finding matches takes forever. Crossplay enabled. “
Many other players in the comments shared this sentiment. They agreed that the tokens should be “match-timed,” and that they should work like the ones in Infinite Warfare where you have a good game, then double your XP.
There is an in-game notice acknowledging this issue so the developers and Activision are aware that this issue is plaguing gamers. Despite the various messages that have been posted on this topic, they have yet to announce their intention to fix it anytime soon.
A few of the comments targeted the 15-minute XP tokens as being particularly problematic. One from u / Darkestneon criticized that you only get one for a game and then end up spending a good chunk of that time waiting in the lobby.
“This is why the 15-minute XP tokens are scams. They only allow you to use them for one MP game. Then, you lose 5min in lobby and loading. You lose A THIRD of your token that you got with a battle pass that you PAID.
It is a scam. Give me at least 30 minute tokens. 15min are practically unnecessary. I agree they should be on the line for some time. “
You can activate the old Double XP tokens
The best way to get around the problem is to get a lobby and then activate the tokens the second before the map starts charging. Plus, as another user pointed out, you can activate your old Warzone tokens and then jump into the Cold War to reap the rewards of the double XP you’ve racked up.

A few actors in the thread said they haven’t encountered the issue at this point. Some of them said they joined a game after just a minute of waiting in the lobby. However, the problem is still more widespread than it has been for a long time.
