TALLAHASSEE – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced that Virginia at Florida State the football game has been postponed.
The postponement follows positive COVID-19 tests, subsequent quarantine and contact tracing with the Florida state football team. The team adheres to the protocols outlined in the CCA Medical Advisory Group report, available at theACC.com. No makeup date was announced in the ACC press release.
At least one FSU player and staff member tested positive earlier this week, two sources confirmed Noles247.
FSU has an open date of December 12, although Virginia does not, as the Cavaliers are scheduled to play at Virginia Tech that day.
It comes after FSU and Clemson postponed their game last Saturday after the Tigers traveled to Tallahassee with a player who tested positive last Friday. FSU and Clemson medical officials could not agree that the game could be played safely, prompting claims from Clemson’s coach. Dabo swinney that FSU dodged the game for competitive reasons rather than security concerns.
Coach Mike Norvell, in response to Swinney’s claim, said the postponed match – both teams opened on December 12, although the match has not yet been rescheduled – was “absolutely a COVID issue”. He also praised the FSU protocol and standards, indicating minimal positive tests throughout the season, especially since he became the first known Power Five coach to test positive in September.

FSU has another regular season game scheduled for next Saturday (December 5) at Duke.
