During a fireside conversation on the last day of I / O 2019, Hiroshi Lockheimer talked about fuchsia in public for the first time. This comes as Google quietly acknowledged the operation of the developer conference earlier this week. Google's Android, Chrome / OS and Play SVP describes it as one of Google's experiences with new concepts for operating systems.
Lockheimer said that Google had many projects underway internally and that Fuchsia was "an investment on our part in the modernization and testing of new operating system concepts".
Google has many projects underway. We are a technology company, so we invest in various technologies and experiences, and so on. And some of these experiences and investments we make to the public as open source projects. The fuchsia is one of them.
The head of Google's two major operating systems quickly underestimated the fact that Fuchsia replaces Android or Chrome OS. He repeatedly stressed that the effort was "learning new technologies".
So, of course, a lot of people – somehow, you know – assume, "It's a new Google operating system, so it must be the future. The only operating system of Google, "you know. That's not how we see it. We see it as a place where we can try new ideas.
On the contrary, Lockheimer pointed to the Internet of Things, and how "there are all sorts of devices that require operating systems".
